With the ability to design using any manufacturer&#8217;s equipment, 10 design frequencies, and instant recalculations of what-if scenarios, the Design Assistant provides the speed, flexibility and accuracy necessary to efficiently design today&#8217;s complex networks. The Design Assistant includes a full suite of reporting tools and a direct connection to the Drafting Assistant for automated error free drafting in AutoCAD. Optimization is key to efficient HFC design. The Design Assistant contains many RF design optimization features that set it apart from other design software on the market today:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li title=\"Support for taps that require plugins\">Full Spectrum Equalization<\/li>\n<li title=\"Instantly propigates signal downstream placing the proper tap values\">Will Work<\/li>\n<li title=\"Moves any amplifier from one location to another while recalculating tap, pad, and eq values in real time. This allows for trail of many different amplifier locations instantly!\">Carry LE<\/li>\n<li title=\"Moves any coupler from one location to another allowing for what-if scenarios\">Carry Coupler<\/li>\n<li title=\"Moves a tap from the input of a coupler to the output(s) and back to the input allowing for complete optimization of all splitter legs\">Rotate Tap<\/li>\n<li title=\"Automatically enters backfeed information to help eliminate actives or reduce cascades. It is also possible to un-backfeed an area if a better alternative is discovered\">Backfeed<\/li>\n<li title=\"Automatically enters forward fed information to help eliminate actives or reduce cascades. The Design Assistant provides the tools necessary to reduce the number of power supplies and ensure that they are all placed in the most efficient locations. Some of these powering tools include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li title=\"Power multiple networks or fiber nodes with one power supply\">Centralized Powering<\/li>\n<li title=\"Insert power in multiple places in the same network or fiber node to maximize operating voltages\">Distributed Powering<\/li>\n<li title=\"Find the optimum location for the power supply based upon minimum current, balanced current draw, or maximizing the lowest voltage at any active\">Locate<\/li>\n<li title=\"Provides a statistical analysis of Network Interface Unit powering to ensure that your system will withstand the variable power loads placed upon it during peak telephone usage patterns\">NIU Test<\/li>\n<li title=\"Moves a power supply from one location to another while recalculating all current voltage requirements\">Carry PS<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition to the wide array of optimization tools, the Design Assistant also includes the ability to easily print specification files, networks, etc, and if needed, get complete information on the performance or tap distribution within the network. The Design Assistant also provides complete Bill of Materials capabilities on one network or a large group of networks.
